Dr. Mac Powell

National University Golf Academy

Dr. Mac Powell is a professor of psychology at National University and a PGA Professional with offices in Los Angeles and the Midwest. He is an alumnus of the University of Missouri, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sociology. Dr. Powell also completed a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in Los Angeles before returning to the University of Missouri to earn a Ph.D.

Dr. Powell trained at Cedars-Sinai Hospital’s Center for the Study of Children in Groups and Vista Del Mar’s Family Stress Program in Los Angeles. He also worked as the primary family therapy clinician for a residential treatment facility for women and their families in St. Louis before designing a sports psychology curriculum at the Gateway Golf Academy. He has worked with players at all levels of golf and can be reached for seminars and worldwide individual instruction at www.innergame.org.

Dr. Powell is the author of Inner Game: Breaking Golf’s Unbreakable Barriers and The Ball is the Enemy, which offers simple–to–use physical and mental drills you can take with you during your next trip to the driving range or course.
