National University Golf Academy to offer two $50,000 scholarships to aspiring golf professionals

  • Academy’s academic offerings include associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – National University Golf Academy will be offering scholarships of up to $50,000 each for two aspiring golf professionals to attend the Academy, California’s second-largest private, nonprofit institution of higher education announced today.

The scholarships will be applied to tuition reimbursement for the attainment of a degree in one of the National University Golf Academy’s academic programs. Currently, the National University Golf Academy offers the following academic programs: Associate of Science with a major in Professional Golf Management; Bachelor of Arts in Sport Psychology; Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management; and Major of Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management.

As part of the selection process, four finalists will be carefully chosen to participate in an all-expenses paid one-day match-play event in San Diego, California that will take place in September, 2011.

To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria: must be accepted into a qualified academic program prior to enrollment; qualify for a student visa if applying to a U.S. based program; begin their program by December 2011; satisfy the English requirement as stated in the National University General Catalog; and agree to participate in ongoing instruction and media opportunities. The scholarship opportunity is open to qualified students who at the time of entry are 18 years of age or older.

To qualify, applicants must submit two required documents – including a 250-word personal essay as well as a resume detailing successful tournament results – to the National University Golf Academy through e-mail, golf@nu.edu, or through the Academy’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/nugolfacademy.

Applications will be accepted until midnight Pacific Time August 1, 2011. Four finalists will be selected from the submissions and announced on August 15, 2011. The scholarships will be awarded September 30, 2011.
